Looking Ahead to 2026

As the valley settles into a new year, there’s a quiet optimism in the air. From Winchester’s ongoing downtown revitalization to Berryville’s expanding trail system, 2026 is shaping up to be a year of thoughtful growth for our communities.

Here’s what we’re watching:

Winchester: The Walking Mall Evolution

Winchester’s pedestrian mall continues to attract new businesses. Three new storefronts are expected to open by spring, including a specialty tea shop, a co-working space, and a children’s bookstore. The city’s investment in the area is paying dividends.

Berryville Trail Expansion

Clarke County is extending the Berryville Greenway by 1.5 miles, connecting the downtown area to the Shenandoah River. The trail will include interpretive signage about the area’s Civil War history.

Stephens City Heritage Project

The Stephens City Historical Society launched a digitization project to preserve local records dating back to the town’s founding in 1758. Volunteers are welcome — training sessions begin January 15th.

Happy New Year, valley. Let’s make it a good one.
